Chris Isaak

Slik ser det ut, spilleliste med The Cult, Live at the Marquee!

Heia Djurgår’n !

Innimellom kommer man over små morsomme saker.

My summer project – top 100 albums

It’s summer and very hot in Oslo and therefor (besides moving…) I need to have a summer project. And it will kind of the impossible one, which and who are the best 100 albums in history, with the limit to pop and rock’n roll.
I’ll guess it will change from day to day – but so far I’m starting with what I feel today – and the first no 1 is Bowie’s the Man Who Sold The World.
I’ll promise you, I will get back in this matter!

Spotify is brilliant, isn’t it?

You can come across this enormous library of good music, and I again, it happens every five year… , this must be one of the best live recordings ever:
Jerry Lee Lewis – Live at the Star Club Hamburg

And as they say – “Live At The Star Club, Hamburg” is not an album, it’s a crime scene!!” Just listen, it’s absolutely brilliant for those of you who likes good old rock’n roll!

Elvis

I have just seen The King singing smorgasbord in a movie called Spinout. I became so stunned by it I had to write something about – The King singing smorgasbord, wow!

The King!

The King!

The russian president uses a video blog!

I have written some stuff about the role social media played in Obama’s campaign in the US. Politicians can make great use of social media and online communities to engage with the public.

One real benefit of engaging people in this way is that you can focus people round a specific topic or issue, a useful tool for politicians and government. It’s also a great way to open up and bring people inside the organization. Just as this is beneficial for brands, so it is also beneficial for organizations. That’s why it’s great to see another example of social media being used in this way, and this time one that is possibly one that is less well known: the videoblog from Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

Launched in October 2008, Dmitry Medvedev recorded a few experimental video blog entries before the end of last year, but it is this week that he has returned and the blog is starting to gain traction. I’ve included the latest clip below, which may only be of use to Russian speakers (although you do get to see Medvedev skiing).

Check it out:

I don’t know what he is saying, but what I read in a statement was “I would like to say a few words about how my video blog. You will know that we began to experiment with a few posts from the 7th October last year. I now want us to take your feedback and improve implement some of your suggestions. First, you asked for commenting on the site and I’m glad to say we have now got this. You can now post comments to the site and I hope you will do so. I have already listened to your feedback with great interest and look forward to reading your comments.” Now that is how to interact with your people!

The best Springsteen song, not written by him!

On my way to work this morning I suddenly heard the best song ever, not written by Springsteen. And, for thus’ who know me, I’m not a Springsteen-fan, at all!
But this is the best he ever could write, drama with saxophone and piano – great lyrics – plain and simple, a really good song!
And who it is, those guys

Motörhead in Oslo or Lemmy The Movie, take a pick

Since the best band in rock’n roll is coming to Oslo december 14th, why not shop a clip from the forthcoming movie – Lemmy the Movie. It probably will be an uncritical yahoo, but who cares – it’s the most influential man in hard rock ever – long live Lemmy!
So, here we go, the trailer to Lemmy the Movie

The best rock’n roll bands ever

I came across some good music recently and I thought, what the heck’, who are the best bands in rock’n roll history. I mean, when even thinking a diagnostic peril as “the 20 best rock bands ever,” one can either cower in anticipation of the monsoon of disagreement sure to come and load the package with every manner of weaselly equivocation, or one can swagger ahead blissfully secure in the universal righteousness of one’s judgment. Being Norwegian, I choose the latter…

  • 2. the Clash
  • 3. Siouxsie and the Banshees
  • 4. Depeche Mode
  • 5. Kinks

  • Dixie Chicks slams the Grammies

The best album of 2006, “Taking the Long Way” – with the brilliant lyrics in “Not ready to make nice” (Most country radio stations have shown little interest in playing the Chicks’ music since March 10, 2003, when Natalie Maines told an audience in London that she was ashamed that President Bush is from Texas) last night won five Grammies! Best album, best record and song of the year, both “Not ready to make nice”, best country album and vocal performance, what a great comeback!
    Brilliant music!

    About Nisse Hellberg

Why haven’t Nisse Hellberg, front man of the Swedish rockband Wilmer X, got more recognition for his brilliant lyrics? The one other guy who could match him is the late Jokke Nielsen – two guys who in small words describes the world around them. And they do it brilliantly!
